Moon Knight tells us to embrace the chaos, and now fans of the show are asking Marvel to do the same. Because, as of now, Disney has only ordered Moon Knight as a limited series, which means it will only be shown once.
But that might change. Moon Knight has been nominated for an Emmy in the Limited Series category, just like Hawkeye. It’s interesting, though, that an official tweet about the trailer for the season one finale used the phrase “series finale” instead of “season finale,” which was then changed.
When asked if Moon Knight would come back, the show’s head writer, Jeremy Slater, told The Playlist, “I really don’t know.” “I haven’t talked to anyone from Marvel. I think Kevin Feige will make a lot of these decisions in the end because he has the big picture in mind.”
Slater says that one possible downside is that the movie’s star, Oscar Isaac, doesn’t have a typical MCU contract.
“Oscar can do as much or as little as he wants with Moon Knight. I think he had a lot of fun playing the character and is glad he did it. But I also don’t think he’s the type to rush into making a sequel just because the first one was successful.”
But the author sees possibilities. Slater says that the character’s depth could easily keep the show going for a second season and beyond.
“Everything works toward a greater good. But will he be my friend? Is he a bad guy? I think those are all very interesting questions for whoever is in charge. Whether I or someone else gets to tell the next Moon Knight story, that is an exciting promise “Slater said (via Inverse). “This guy’s story is not over yet.”
And after the first two episodes aired on Disney+, writer Mohamed Diab told Collider, “Moon Knight is staying, staying for a long time.” Even he doesn’t know if that means there will be another season or if the Fist of Khonshu will just show up somewhere else in the MCU.
Moon Knight Season 2 Release Date
If Moon Knight isn’t just a passing phase, a second season probably won’t come out for at least two years. That’s because Marvel has more projects than Marc has personalities, so Moon Knight will have to wait behind all the other new and returning shows set to come to Disney+.
Moon Knight Season 2 Cast
Oscar Isaac told Variety that he wasn’t sure if he wanted to join the MCU before Moon Knight’s first appearance. “I knew about the golden handcuffs,” he said as a joke. “We all agreed to put our attention on this show, which is good. This is what happened. And if it has a future, I think it will depend on how much people like it, if they want to see more, and if we can come up with a good story.”
Since then, Isaac has talked to The Radio Times about the possibility of a second season. He said: “I think we just said, “This is the story, and let’s just lay everything out on the table.” There are no official plans to keep it going. It would depend on the story, I think.”
Isaac went on to say that not all hope is lost: “That being said, I love being Steven. I just love it. It’s almost as if it would be so much fun to be him physically. So, if there was a story that made sense, I’d be happy to be in it.”
So, if Oscar does come back, he will probably be joined by May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly, F Murray Abraham as Khonshu, and maybe Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow, though it’s unlikely given how the last episode ended.
Gaspard Ulliel won’t be back on the show because of a terrible skiing accident that happened before the show started in 2022. At the moment, it’s not clear if Marvel planned to use his character, Anton Mogart, in future episodes.
