, Toliver confirmed both of those claims over the phone from Los Angeles: at the time he mentioned he’ll be releasing an album called Life of a Don soon, and Kali Uchis is, in fact, his girlfriend. He responds slowly, “We’re not crazily public or anything like that.” “We just have a connection.”

The couple headed to Colombia, where Kali Uchis’ family lives, to shoot the visuals for What You Need and Drugs N Hella Melodies earlier in 2021. Toliver explains, “I already had it in my mind to go out there and record a video with her in it, to make it a real-deal situation.” During his time in Medelln, he met and spent time with certain members of her family. When asked for more information about how and when they met, Toliver respectfully declines.
