The stress of Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock affected both her personal life and her ability to write songs.
The 40-year-old “Stronger” singer spoke candidly in a recent interview about creating new music while coping with the fallout from her breakup with Blackstock, 45, and the challenges that resulted from it.

“The navigation of it has been the most difficult. Clarkson was prepared to proceed after her divorce was finalized, a source told PEOPLE in March.
