Woman Who Fraudulently Claimed To Be Tim Cook’s Wife And Stalked Him Agreed To Stay Away For 3 Years

Apple says a woman followed CEO Tim Cook for more than a year, sending him pictures of a loaded gun and breaking into his home. In court, the woman agreed to stay away from Cook, Apple employees, and properties, and to give up any guns she may have.

In January, Apple got a temporary restraining order against the woman because they said she was acting “erratic, threatening, and weird.” The company put copies of photos, emails, and tweets that were said to be from the woman in the application. Apple said that the woman “may be armed, is still in the South Bay Area, and plans to go back to Cook’s house or find him in the near future in some other way.” Apple said it thought she drove from Virginia to Palo Alto in a Porsche Macan SUV and showed up at Cook’s house on October 22.

The temporary order said that the 46-year-old woman couldn’t have guns, talk to Apple employees, including Tim Cook, enter any Apple property, or go to Cook’s home in Palo Alto. The order was set to end on Tuesday.

Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Erik Johnson signed a new order that Apple and the woman had agreed on. It had the same terms as the proposed temporary order, but it would only last for three years. When Johnson asked her questions to make sure she understood the terms of the order, the woman answered quickly with “yes” and “yes, sir.”

In a January court filing, Apple security expert Jose Barrera said that he works closely with CEO Tim Cook and feared that the woman was a threat to Cook and all Apple employees, including himself and the security team. Barrera said on Tuesday outside of the courthouse, “We’re happy with how things turned out.”

The three-year order also says that the woman can’t talk to the CEO or other Apple employees directly, indirectly, or through email, social media, or other electronic means.
