When Bob Iger, one of Disney’s most famous CEOs, said he was coming back to run the company, it was a surprise to the entertainment business.
Robert Allen Iger is an American businessman and The Walt Disney Company’s interim chief executive officer. From 1994 to 1995, he was the president of ABC Television. From 1995 until Disney bought it in 1996, he was the president and chief operating officer of Capital Cities/ABC. Iger was named president of Disney in 2000, and when Michael Eisner’s contract ended in 2005, he took over as CEO until 2020. Then, until he left the company in 2021, he worked as Executive Chairman.
Bob Chapek, who was supposed to be Iger’s replacement, left The Walt Disney Company without warning on November 20, 2022. This was a big surprise to Iger, who was CEO at the time.
Fans and internet users are now looking all over the internet for information about his work and personal life. In this post, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about it.
About Bob Iger’s Wife
Bob Iger has been married twice. His first marriage, to Kathleen Susan Iger, didn’t work out, and they eventually split up. They’re the parents of two girls.
In Bridgehampton, New York, in 1995, Iger married journalist Willow Bay in a ceremony that had both Jewish and Roman Catholic elements. The couple went to a romantic restaurant in TriBeCa called Alison on Dominick for their first date.
Together, they have two sons. Three years after they got married, Robert Maxwell “Max” Iger was born. And in 2002, William Iger, their second son, was born.
Willow Bay is the Dean of the USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism. She is married to Iger. Both were honored at the gala last year for all the years they had helped the YES Scholars organization, which was started by Eric Eisner and gives resources to smart young people from low-income areas in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, and some parts of North Carolina.
In a 2018 Vogue article about Iger, the dean said, “Since June 13, 1994, my husband and I have never been apart.”
Bay also said that they spent a lot of time at home with their kids and watched shows like “The Crown” to catch up.
Bob Iger Is Finally Back As Disney’s CEO For The Company’s Better Future
In a statement released on Sunday, the board of Walt Disney Co. said that former CEO Bob Iger will return to the media company as CEO.
“We thank Bob Chapek for his many years of service to Disney, including leading the company through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic,” Susan Arnold, Chairman of the Board at Disney, said in a statement on Sunday night. “The Board has decided that Bob Iger is the best person to lead the Company through this important time when the industry is changing and getting more complicated.”
Even though the news was surprising, it comes at a time when Disney is going through a lot of changes. The company just put out a less-than-impressive report on its earnings, which showed that its streaming efforts are growing. But that cost a lot of money. Disney’s streaming business lost $1.5 billion in the fourth quarter. After a year of slow to bad performance, that news sent Disney’s stock tumbling.
Chapek was in charge of the company during the pandemic, which was one of the hardest times in its nearly 100-year history. But Disney decided that Iger would be better for the company in the long run.
