The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 - Release Date, Cast And Plot

Summer is already on its way, and Prime Video offers the perfect show to kick off the new season. On June 17, Amazon’s new coming-of-age TV show, The Summer I Turned Pretty, will premiere, immersing viewers in a season of teenage melodrama and anguish. Jenny Han’s novel of the same name is the first of a trilogy of young adult novels, and the series is based on it. It’s not surprising, then, that a second season has been confirmed.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is about a love triangle between two brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Lola Tung) (Gavin Casalegno). Belly’s vacation with her mother Laurel (Jackie Chung), brother Steven (Sean Kauffman), and family friend Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) swiftly turns into a journey of self-discovery and desire. Motherhood and female friendship take center stage against a backdrop of first loves and first heartbreaks, all taking place over the course of one idyllic summer.

With Season 2 now announced, here’s everything we know so far about what Belly and her family and friends can expect next summer.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 - Release Date, Cast And Plot

The Summer I Turned Pretty was renewed for Season 2 by Amazon a week before it premiered, according to Deadline. Season 2 is expected to release in Summer 2023, based on the series’ name and the production’s estimated timetable.

Jenny Han, the book’s author, would also be returning as showrunner and executive producer in Season 2. Given that Han was also an executive producer for the To All the Boys film trilogy, having her on board is a pretty promising indicator for future seasons of the show. If Amazon’s show is as popular as Netflix’s smash rom-com, The Summer I Turned Pretty will almost certainly get a third part to complete its adaptation.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Cast

Because Belly is the primary character in the book trilogy, the TV show’s protagonist, Lola Tung, will most likely remain in the spotlight in the second season. Conrad and Jeremiah, played by Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno, are both excellent. It’s Not Summer Without You, the sequel to the book, features both characters. Season 2 will very certainly feature Jackie Chung as Belly’s mother Laurel and Sean Kauffman as Belly’s brother Steven. Finally, since Rachel Blanchard’s character Susannah develops an illness in the sequel novel, it’s a reasonable assumption that she’ll appear in the guaranteed second season.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Plot

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han is the basis for the TV show. Han is the author of the best-selling To All The Boys I Loved Before series, which has been adapted into a Netflix movie trilogy. Han co-created The Summer I Turned Pretty with Gabrielle Stanton and co-wrote the pilot episode. The Summer I Turned Pretty was Han’s first YA novel, despite the fact that To All The Boys was adapted first. Season 2 will almost certainly be based on the Summer series, which includes names like It’s Not Summer Without You and We’ll Always Have Summer.

More love triangle turmoil might be expected if Season 2 closely follows the sequel novel. Belly is less enthusiastic about summer in the sequel, Conrad is distant, and Susannah becomes unwell. Belly knows she needs to return to her beach house at Cousins Beach and try to rebuild their relationship only when Jeremiah informs her that Conrad has simply vanished. While the next season of the TV program may change things up, we can expect some of the book’s core plot lines to appear in the Prime Video series.
